Breakouts, marks and open pores

May need to wait or be avoided if:

  • you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy
  • there is an active infection, open wound or severe irritation on the area
  • you are taking prescription acne medicine, such as isotretinoin (tell the clinician first)
  • the skin is sunburnt or recently tanned

Dark spots, melasma and uneven tone

May need to wait or be avoided if:

  • a dark patch or mole is new, growing, bleeding or changing. It needs to be examined first
  • you are pregnant or breastfeeding (tell the clinician)
  • the skin is sunburnt, irritated or infected
  • you take medicines that make your skin more sensitive to light

Dull skin, texture and firmness

May need to wait or be avoided if:

  • you are pregnant or breastfeeding (tell the clinician)
  • there is an active infection, cold sore, open wound or flare-up of a skin condition on the area
  • the skin is sunburnt, peeling or recently tanned
  • you have a pacemaker, another implanted electronic device or a metal implant near the area
  • you are taking prescription acne medicine, such as isotretinoin (tell the clinician first)
